Sebastian Bergne was commissioned to produce an object for this article “DIY design objects” for the Suddeutch Zietung Magazine.
The result is the Float vase and is made using a minimum of elements introducing bold colour and form to a floral arrangement. All parts can be found at a plumbing supplier or good DIY store. A large float for a toilet cistern mechanism gives you the principal volume and a drain guard (or similar) the base. A single bolt with the corresponding screw thread to the float will combine them and a matching hole in the base will allow it all to come together. Most importantly, drill a series of holes of diameter 10mm or more in the top of the ball float to give access to the flowers. Lastly assemble your Float vase and enjoy arranging your flowers.
