Poise
The Poise lamps were created by Sebastian Bergne for the exhibition Akari Unfolded: A collection curated and edited by Ymer & Malta for the Noguchi Museum, New York.
The lamps are inspired by the work of artist and designer Isamu Noguchi using simple materials and humble references. Paper, lead, cord and stainless steel combine to form carefully balanced compositions that project soft directional light in a way reminiscent of a photographic studio.
The magical metamorphosis of the iconic Akari lamps from flat to three dimensional can also be found in Poise. Transformed from flat paper using a folding technique borrowed from the everyday paper bag they position themselves between practical design and sculpture, a territory all to familiar to cross-disciplinary innovator Noguchi.
Poise lamps are available in suspension, standing and table top versions.
